Movie Review--Höllentour (Hell on Wheels)

FABULOUS MOVIE!

It's a documentary by Oscar-winning film maker Pepe Danquart on the 2003 Tour de France, focusing on the Telekom team, and especially Rolf Aldag and Erik Zabel, but also includes other riders (Vinokurov, Kloden), and the background players on a team--the Director Sportif, mechanics and soigneurs. I was a Zabel fan before, but after seeing this, he rises even higher on my list. There's a shot at the end after the end of the stage in Paris where Zabel is sitting on his bike and he is lost in thought, a very powerful moment.

2003 was the first time I went to the Tour, so reliving each stage was almost like being there again. The actual race footage is spectacular. It sure has got me excited for the race this year.
